CHESF Workshops and Meetings Committee Guidelines
Thank you for volunteering to be on the Workshops and Meetings Committee. It is our goal that CHESF offer at least three general meetings a year. Speakers may be from our support group, from the community or invited from out of town. Equal emphasis should be placed on providing topics of interest for both male and female members as well as age related topics for parents of elementary, middle school and/or high school aged children. Multiple workshops or breakout sessions may need to be planned for each meeting. Topics might include but not be limited to motivating your homeschooler, organization and planning, homeschooling through high school, teaching science at home, how to plan a unit study, construction techniques, teaching through fieldtrips, how to start a home-based business, how to organize a co-op, etc. The Steering Committee upon recommendation of the Vice President will determine which themes to offer for the current school year and establish the Annual Calendar of Events. We are looking forward to a great year and appreciate your involvement. Here are some guidelines to help you plan your event.
? Reserve location and set date for event. If a fee will be charged for using facility, seek approval from Steering Committee. Arrange for tables, chairs, microphones, time to open for setup, etc. Consider collecting a love offering if no fee is charged. ? Publicize the Workshop. Write up a news announcement and submit to Communications Coordinator. Include: Event name, speaker and topic summary, date, time, location and directions, cost and RSVP date if required, and contact name, e-mail and phone number, along with any other pertinent details. ? Arrange for speakers, communicate our expectations, make arrangements to accommodate necessities. ? Collect any fees charged, and keep list of expenses; submit to Treasurer for reimbursement. ? Plan agenda for meeting night and enlist volunteers as needed. ? Keep Steering Committee updated as to your progress and respond to all inquiries in a timely manner. ? Prepare and copy program if utilized (be sure to thank facility provider, speakers and volunteers.) ? Plan to arrive early for setup and be responsible for cleanup after event. ? Send thank you notes/e-mails after event to speakers, facility provider, etc. ? Provide news article for CHESF monthly newsletter with details of event.
Thank you again for volunteering. Please feel free to contact the CHESF Vice President if you have any further questions.
