Workshops:
"Navigating the Middle School
Years"
The "tween" years can be some of the
most challenging and rewarding stages in your homeschool.
Yes, the hormones are raging, but this is also a time of great
growth for your child. In this workshop, Cindy will
provide a road map to help you navigate these exciting years.
Topics include academics, emotions, character issues, social
needs and purposely training our young people in the area of
worldviews.
Cindy Prechtel
and
her husband, PJ, have homeschooled their two teenage sons
since they were born. Owners of Homeschooling From the
Heart, Cindy ministers to homeschooling families, speaks at
conferences, and writes books including Using the
Internet in Your Homeschool and Character Building
Copywork.
"Character Based Correction and
Praise"
Are you excited and pleased with the
words, actions, and attitudes of your children? Many
Christian parents are frustrated and concerned about their
child's behavior and spiritual growth. Well I know that our
children need both correction and praise. But how are we
supposed to do it? This workshop will discuss
character-based principles that will honor the Lord, train
our children, and help build Godly character in our home.
Gerry Peterson
and his wife, Cynthia, have been home
schooling since "day one" and have been involved with CHESF
for almost 20 years. They have eleven children ranging in
age from 2 years to 23 years old. Their three oldest
children have graduated from high school and are enjoying
lives of service and ministry. One son is currently a
senior at the University of Florida. They are excited to
share with you some of the things that they have discovered
on their home school journey.

Workshops:
"Homestretch: Last Leg of the
Homeschooling Journey
For many parents, homeschooling the
highschooler can be a frightening time. Trying to weed
through all the information necessary to prepare your
student for not only his/her academic requirements, but also
the testing and college search can be overwhelming. This
session will cover a variety of topics to help parents
entering the high school years and those getting ready to
complete their homeschooling journey. Topics include Florida
Sunshine Standards, course codes, transcripts, testing,
scholarships, college search, etc. Attendees will have Q&A
time and handouts with links for further research.
Regina Hicks
and her husband, Kendal, have had the
opportunity to home school for 26 years and in four
different states: Louisiana, Missouri, Illinois and
Florida. They have four children who have been home schooled throughout
their school aged years. Two of the oldest have graduated from
state universities with the third graduating this year.
Their youngest is a senior in high school. Regina is
proactive within local, state and national coalitions to
maintain the rights of home education. She is the director
of Parent Educator Assistance & Resources, a homeschooling
consulting business and author/publicist for AWBU
Ministries.
"Orientation to Homeschooling in
Florida"
What are the six legal
responsibilities of homeschooling in Florida? What are the
different homeschooling methods? This workshop will include
lots of practical advice for beginning your journey and offer
time for Q and A.

"Organizing
Life"
A long-term student of organization,
Marcy will share the things she's learned over the years
that have improved her home and life.
Marcy Schaller and her husband, Mark, homeschooled
their two children for over 13
years. One graduated from UCF and is a computer
systems analyst, and the other is in middle management at
a local Publix. Although her homeschooling years
have come to an end, Marcy remains active with Heart and Home
Homeschoolers.
"How to Avoid
Burnout"
Through her personal testimony and experiences of home
schooling for the past 20 years, Cynthia will share some
practical ways to keep the candle burning (not at both ends)!
This workshop will cover the causes and the signs of burnout as
well as some ideas to bring new life back into your school year
by changing your priorities and attitudes. If you are in this
home schooling journey for the long haul or you want to
encourage others who are, this workshop is for you! Let's finish
the race with the joy set before us!
